The Sales Floor

Two days with a sales team on their own product: the opening call, the eight objections they really get, and closing without apologising for the price.

What it is for

Sales training usually fails in the same place: it teaches a general method, the team nods, and on Sunday they go back to the script they already had. Nothing was rehearsed against the objection their actual customers actually raise.

How it runs

  • Collect the objections before the session, from the team rather than from the manager. The list the floor gives is never the list the office expects, and the difference is the training.
  • Write the answers together, on paper, in the room. An answer the team wrote is one they will use; an answer handed to them on a slide is one they will paraphrase badly.
  • Role-play in front of colleagues, and run the uncomfortable ones twice. The second attempt is where the skill appears — the first is only nerves.
  • Bring the managers into the last session, so the review conversation afterwards uses the same words the team was just trained in.

What people leave with

  • The team leaves with a written objection sheet in their own words, specific to their own product.
  • Managers get the same vocabulary, so coaching after the session continues the training instead of contradicting it.

Let’s talk about your team

I’m taking training bookings for this quarter. Send a line about the room and I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right person for it.

Corporate sessions, university seminars, speaking slots and one-to-one coaching.
